Built around children's safety.
Captain's Words is designed for young learners. Safety, privacy, emotional confidence and adult oversight shape how the product works.

Not a safeguarding reporting channel
Captain's Words is literacy practice software. It is not an emergency service and cannot respond to safeguarding incidents in real time. If a child is at immediate risk, contact the emergency services (999 in the UK).
No child email accounts
Children do not need email addresses or social accounts. Family and school play access is profile-based and controlled by authorised adults.
Calm learning design
The product avoids shame-based feedback, public rankings and pressure mechanics. Progress is shown to adults in a way that supports encouragement and timely help.
Adult oversight
Parents and authorised school staff manage profiles, access and progress views. School accounts should only be used by staff with a legitimate education role.
Read aloud and microphones (schools)
Read-aloud practice uses the device microphone through the browser. On Chrome and Edge, speech may be processed by the browser vendor's service (for example Google) before a transcript is returned to the game. Captain's Words stores learning text, not voice recordings. School IT teams should review browser and device policies alongside our privacy policy.
